Yes, it is very sad and horrible what has happened in Japan. Thousands of people have lost their lives and it is a tragedy. Personally, I'm tired of hearing everyone talk about sending Japan money. First of all, aren't they a very rich country? Second of all, isn't the United States like billions of dollars in debt? Something is just not right here.
Every day you hear on the news about the government lowering or stopping funding for this thing or that thing. We are helping our own people less and less. I have a friend who has two autistic sons. Her sons both get medicaid because of their disability, but the government is always unwilling to pay for this medication or that medication, and the family can't afford to buy their meds out of pocket, so their children suffer without medication. Right now, thousands of people are out of work and don't have a place to live or to call "home". Shelters and places like soup kitchens are losing funding and many are having to shut their doors, leaving the needy out in the cold, literally. People are dying every day because they can't afford medical care. People are starving because no one here is willing to help. If someone tries to get help, they are looked down on and considered trash or "unworthy". All of these special fundings are being cut to help dig the U.S. out of debt. Thousands of illegal immigrants are allowed to come into our country and steal our jobs, and the government does nothing about it; in fact, people from other countries can come into the U.S.A. and be treated BETTER than Americans!
Why is it that Americans are willing to help other countries but not help their own? Why is everyone rushing to send money to Japan or send our troops to Japan to help them? Why does America always have to look like the "hero" but yet we let down the ones we should be helping the most? Why should I send my money to Japan instead of helping the homeless right here in front of me? Why is everyone else more important then our own country? I just don't get it!!
